Course Overview:
Join Ronald Layman at The Faux School for an immersive three-day hands-on Tadelakt workshop, where you will learn the authentic Moroccan technique alongside modern adaptations. This course is designed for decorative finishers, artisans, designers, and professionals looking to master one of the world’s most luxurious lime plasters

Over the course of three days, participants will create large-scale samples (2x4 feet each) —one using traditional dry-mix Tadelakt with olive oil soap waterproofing and the other using modern wet-mix Tadelakt sealed with a one-time impregnator sealer

 What You’ll Learn: 

Traditional Moroccan Tadelakt Method – Using a high-calcium dry mix, polished with Savon de Marseille (French olive oil soap) for natural waterproofing. 

Modern Wet-Mix Tadelakt Technique – Learn the application of a pre-mixed Tadelakt system, finished with a one-time impregnator sealer for durability. 

Application & Burnishing Techniques – Master the use of wooden floats, spatulas, plastic burnishers, and sea sponges** to achieve a stone-like, polished finish. 

Material Comparisons – Understand the differences between traditional and modern Tadelakt, including breathability, finish quality, and waterproofing properties. 

Step-by-Step Surface Preparation – Learn how to properly prepare substrates for Tadelakt, ensuring long-term performance and adhesion.

 Hands-On Experience: 
✔ Create 6-2x4 ft samples showcasing both traditional and modern Tadelakt applications
✔ Practice authentic hand-polishing techniques using Savon de Marseille for the classic Moroccan waterproof seal. 
✔ Experiment with modern sealing techniques using a one-time impregnator sealer for a contemporary approach.
