1️⃣ Surface Preparation:
- Ensure the surface is clean, solid, and absorbent (lime-based plaster, stone, or cement works best).
- Remove any previous coatings or synthetic finishes.
- Slightly roughen the surface for better adhesion.
2️⃣ Mixing Tadelakt by Bernini:
- Add clean water to the dry Tadelakt powder, mixing slowly until smooth.
- Let the mixture rest for 15-30 minutes before applying.
- Adjust consistency by adding more water or plaster as needed.
3️⃣ Applying the Plaster:
- Apply a thin first coat (2mm thick) using a trowel, ensuring even coverage.
- Allow the first coat to firm up but remain slightly damp.
- Apply a second coat (3-4mm thick) and begin smoothing immediately.
4️⃣ Burnishing & Polishing:
- As the plaster starts to dry, compress and polish it using a plastic trowel or burnishing stone.
- This step is crucial to achieving a dense, smooth, and water-resistant surface.
5️⃣ Soap Sealing (Saponification Process):
- Once semi-dry, apply a natural black olive oil soap solution with a sponge.
- Buff and polish again to enhance water resistance.
6️⃣ Final Curing & Maintenance:
- Allow the surface to cure for 2-4 weeks before heavy water exposure.
- Maintain with occasional reapplications of olive oil soap to preserve the finish.
